Bruin Leaders Project

Jennie Alvarado

Jennie Alvarado (1935-2003) was an employee of UCLA for over twenty-two years. She retired from the Center for Student Programming in 1993. In 2000, Jennie returned to the University and back to the C.S.P., where she worked with the Bruin Leaders Project. She played an integral part in the development and implementation of the Bruin Leaders Project as a new program in C.S.P. Jennie worked diligently on the expansion of a leadership library available to all participants in the Bruin Leaders Project and student organizational leaders. Her enthusiasm toward the library and her eagerness for it to expand led the Student Facilitation Team of the Bruin Leaders Project to recommend naming the library in Jennie’s memory. With the support of Jennie’s Family, The Jennie Alvarado Memorial Student Leadership Library has been established and will be housed in the Bruin Leaders Project Office in the UCLA Center for Student Programming.

In Jennie’s memory the Bruin Leaders Project will continue to promote leadership development amongst students at UCLA.

You can also use a Library book to fulfill one of the elective requirements. It's simple... just read one of eligible titles from the Jennie Alvarado Leadership Library and complete our "Read and Respond".
